In-place inclinometer is used to measure the change of underground soil environment such as foundation pit, landslide, and so on. For the vertical IPI, sensor measure inclination from vertical, with movements of the inclinometer casing lead by the ground movements, and process into displacement variation. Real time monitoring and data transmission can be achieved, without human operation.
OD70~90mm inclinometer casing tube is required before installation and measurements. Each inclinometer is connected by stainless steel rods. First top inclinometer is fixed by steel rope against well head tool. Each sensor’s data can be transmission by data cable to the underground data acquisition box.
Space between sensors are defined as L2, that is space between two guide wheels, and it is suggested with a fixed L2 for each sensor. L1 is defined as the space from wellhead to the first sensor’s guide wheel, and L1 can be change according to customer’s requirements. When measure, the fixed wheel should be alongside the expected deformation direction.
2.1 For top sensor probe, there are two pairs of guide wheels, with a hoisting ring which can be hoisted with steel ropes. The top end of steel rope can be connected with wellhead tool. Its length can be customized, the default length is 3 meters from the factory.
2.2 For standard senor probe, there is one pair guide wheel, but cables comes out on both side of probe. A cardan joint on each probe’s bottom side, can be twisted freely according to the bending of the casing.
2.3 Every two sensor probes are connected by rods. There are preprocessed holes with diameter of 6.5mm on both ends of the steel rods. Tighten the screws with spanner to connect rod and sensor probe.
2.4 The adjacent cables are fastened by spanner with connector. The spanners positions could refer to the picture. The stationary spanner is at male connector groove and the active spanner is on the female connector screw nut.
2.5 There is an operation hole on the top end of sensor probe. When installation, a bearing bar through the operation hole can be hung against the casing wellhead to accomplish other operation and work.
2.6 Two kind mount and connection method.
A. Use Stainless steel rods to connect adjacent sensor;
B. Use steel ropes to connect adjacent sensor.
A: suitable for dense test, rigid connections adapt to large curvature variations.
B: suitable for long distance
sparse test, Flexible connection,
Sensors slide into the groove by gravity,if there are too many probes and the curvature is too big, it’s not easy to install in place.
3.1 Firstly confirm the top sensor and middle sensors. Type A is with one group guide wheels, while type B is with two group guide wheels. Short cable connection is pointing down. Or refer to the label mark.
3.2 Make it vertical, and slide the fixed wheel into the guide slot, make sure it is at X- direction of which is the expected deformation direction.
4.1 Confirm that the inclinometer casing size is matched with the sensor, and the casing depth reaches the measuring requirement and unimpeded.
4.2 Check the serial number of sensor probes and confirm the installation sequence.
4.3 Check if sensors and cables are damaged before installation, if so, need to be solved.
4.4 In the process of installation, make sure the screws are locked tightly, and the connectors are tightened as well, the cables should be unstressed. Sensors are smoothly installed, drop relying on gravity, external force cannot be applied.
4.5 When installation, cable can be attached on the rod or sensor probe properly, to avoid friction against casing.
4.6 Sensor probe should be installed or uninstalled one by one, prevention of injury.
4.7 Wash out after the use.
