IV. Work Principle Sensitive Component 

The sensitive component of the inclinometer is 2-axis accelerometer which adopted the MEMS capacitance measurement technology. Like other accelerometer, the sensitive component is one differential capacitor with output in proportion of acceleration. The performance of the accelerometer is mostly related with its structure design. Differential capacitor is made of cantilever beam, and the cantilever beam is made of a number of alternative distributed multi-finger shaped capacitance electrodes. Following picture is the diagram of one multi-finger shaped capacitance electrode.

Work-Principle-Sensitive-Component

There is 3D cavity structure inside the sensitive component, and gravity pendulum is the solid structure. The pendulum will be tilt to one direction when it is on the effect by the gravity or acceleration, which will lead to change of the distance between front side and rear side, and then the capacitance will be change correspondingly. These changes of capacitance are converted to electronic signals by related circuits. System chart is as follow:

The sensitive component is with analog voltage output of DC0.5-4.5Vol, the signal is firstly filtered by the filter circuit, then turn to the 16bits AD converter which is connected with the MCU by SPI. The sensitive component is processed by zero calibration, sensitivity calibration, anti-sine calibration, accuracy calibration and so on, so finally the sensor can be output angle information directly.
