The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data, creating opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, resulting in efficiency improvements, economic benefits, and reduced human exertions.
The number of IoT devices increased 31% year-over-year to 8.4 billion in 2017 and it is estimated that there will be 30 billion devices by 2020. The global market value of IoT is projected to reach $7.1 trillion by 2020.
ZC Sensor, has been focusing on researching and developing wireless tilt sensor technology for several years, and have made some great achievements.
1. Intelligent Manhole Cover System (IMCS)
An intelligent manhole cover management system (IMCS) is one of the most important basic platforms in a smart city to prevent frequent manhole cover accidents, like manhole cover displacement, loss, and damage pose threats to personal safety, which is contrary to the aim of smart cities.
A unique radio frequency identification tag with tilt and vibration sensors is used for each manhole cover, and a narrowband Internet of Things is adopted for communication. Meanwhile, edge computing servers interact with corresponding management personnel through mobile devices based on the collected information. It efficiently reduced the average repair time, which could improve the security for both people and manhole covers.
Our inclinometer sensor ZCT330E-SWP-N can be used in IMCS to monitor the tilt changing of the manhole covers. The system sends data through telecom base station to the cloud platform, then to the management application or PC, the manager can see the data in real time on his phone or computer.
2. IoT Enables Remote Monitoring of Billboards
With the rapid development of the national economy, outdoor advertising has become an important part of modern cities, it is growing at a rate of more than 20% per year. It is humanly impossible to keep a check on the health of all billboards, and this is where IoT comes to the rescue. This IoT solution comes in the form of a cloud-based software platform which sources live photo inputs from a hardware unit installed on each billboard site.
This IoT based intelligent monitoring system separately installs a tilt sensor on a billboard and detecting tilt data in a vertical direction. The processing module is connected to the tilt sensor for receiving and processing the sensing signal of the tilt sensor. The monitoring center is connected to the wireless communication module of the processing module through the wireless network. The utility model based on the Internet of Things billboard collapse warning system can monitor the vertical state of the giant billboard by wireless 24 hours a day, and once the billboard is tilted, an effective warning is immediately issued, and the relevant personnel are notified to strengthen the billboard in time to avoid the disaster caused by billboard collapse or fall.
Our inclinometer sensor ZCT245J-LAQ-17 has been widely used in this area, it is small size and volume, low power consumption, RS232 output, and also easily to be integrated in all kinds control system.
3. Smart Shelves Monitoring System Based on IoT
Installed on the store’s shelf, the smart shelf system is equipped with dozens of tilt sensors (ZCT330E-SWP-N) that detect the tilt changing of the large shelves and send data through telecom base station to the cloud platform, then to the management application. Our smart friendly app that provides both real time status information and analysis data. Once one of the shelves’ tilt changing is out of safe range, the manager will receive the alarm immediately, which the loss can be largely reduced and avoided.
4. Building and Wireless Remote Monitoring IoT System
IoT devices can be used to monitor and control the mechanical, electrical and electronic systems used in various types of buildings. Our wireless LoRa inclinometer sensor ZCT600ML-215SR and tilt sensor ZCT215M-LBS-ABUS-E3-4505 has been widely used for “IoT” based intelligent building monitoring system.
5. Intelligent Street Light Control System
Street lights can be made intelligent by placing cameras, tilt sensors and wind sensors on them, which enables them to detect movement. All sensor info, made of the IOT, is based on software with which the street lights can be monitored and managed wirelessly. Our inclinometer sensor ZCT205MA-STP-37 has been used in this area, it is small size and volume, low consumption power (1.5mA quiescent current) robust housing, hazard environment resistance.
